As my favourite blogger in Israel, Neil Ungerleider reports, a top-secret Israeli army base has been exposed via Facebook. This comes just days after another internet blunder, via YouTube, showing IDF soldiers perform a very embarassing dance video while on patrol in the tense West Bank city of Hebron. Some tried to laugh it off saying that it was a group of guys passing time, but it was making a mockery of the occupation. It had none of the underlying social commentary that US soldier videos from Afghanistan have presented. Please! What happened to the same armed force that carried out the Entebbe raid in 1976? Certainly those glory days are way gone now.
But all is not lost. Here is an interesting video showing Israeli soldiers singing Zajal, a type of colloquial Arabic improv singing poetry. Now this is the picture of Israel that should be promoted.
