I'm sadden to discover that the world's largest single-member electoral division, the Australian federal electorate of Kalgoorlie, is no more. Spanning an area of over 2.2 million square kilometres of mainly desert, Kalgoorlie electorate could fit France, Spain, the UK, Germany, Italy and Poland and still there would be some room left. Alas, Kalgoorlie is no more as the area it covered has now been replaced by two electorates. Now, Aussies are never ones to relinquish a 'world's biggest' record for long, so based on kudos rights alone, I would not be surprised to see Kalgoorlie reappear in the future.
